The Misanthropist

Misanthrope – noun: a person who hates or distrusts humankind – Merriam-Webster

This is the whole point of this site. I distrust people. Why? Mostly because I find other people horribly misinformed.

Take for instance all the undecided voters in the 2024 United States election. I’m of the opinion that if they’re undecided at this point of the game about two diametrically opposed candidates they should not be allowed to vote. What new information do they need? One has already been president. The other one a senator and vice president. The party platforms have an abyss between each other. They should already should know how they’re voting, but they don’t. Their so purported indecision is the reason I don’t trust them. I don’t care which way they break. They shouldn’t vote. And yet they do.

Should I trust people that want to deny the rest of us the advantages of the greatest achievement in human health ever that are vaccines? All because they “did their own research”? I don’t trust people that think two weeks of intensive Facebook research makes their opinion worthier than the collective knowledge of humankind earned over centuries that vaccines work. These people should have no voice or say over public policy. And yet they do.

Should a deranged person that thinks weather can be controlled be elected to Congress and be in the House Homeland Security Committee? No. And yet she is.

Should books be banned from a community’s public library based on the views of a single deranged person? No. And yet they are.

And on and on and on.

I distrust people and the people that put them in power. I’m The Misanthropist.
